I’m in the process of writing a review of Far as the Curse is Found by Michael Williams (professor of systematic theology at Covenant Theological Seminary), and will be blogging some of the quotes that I’m compiling from the book.
Williams begins his book with the resurrection of Jesus as Israel’s Messiah as the key to understanding the rest of the Bible:
“Christianity is a religion grounded in history. Unlike religions that seek to transcend history, as if it were a thing to be scorned or ignored, the good news of Jesus Christ is news, the telling of things that have happened. The gospel is the recital of a great event: the mighty act of God in raising Jesus from the dead in fulfillment of his covenant promise” (16).
